The Media cooperation forum of SCO countries hosted by people’s daily began today in Urumqi, the capital of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

SCO, Sanghai Cooperation Organization, was formed in 2001 by China keeping Shanghai spirit atop.

The two-day event brings together over 200 representatives from more than 50 media industries from the SCO member countries, dialogue partners and observers.

The forum, co-organized by the Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Of China.

In his opening remarks, Ma Xingrui, the Member of the Political Bureau of CPC the Central Committee, and the secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee emphasized the need to strengthen media relations among the SCO countries. He said that media can play a vital role to build the relations, connectivity between people to people and enhance the development and cultural relationship.
