
Pakistan, China Agree to Launch Joint Lab on Agriculture and Innovation
The Prime Minister’s Secretariat hosted a high-level academic delegation from China’s Northwest A&F University, marking a key milestone in advancing bilateral cooperation in science, agriculture, and innovation.
The delegation was led by Professor Dr. Zhang Lixin, Chairman of the Silk Road (Yangling) Biohealth Agricultural Industry Alliance, and was received by Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Commerce and Industries.

The visit focused on enhancing collaboration in the fields of agriculture, biodiversity, climate change, and food security. Discussions centered on establishing a joint research laboratory at Quaid-i-Azam University to strengthen academic exchanges and promote science-driven solutions to regional challenges.
The initiative also includes the training of 1,000 Pakistani students and researchers in Yangling, China, as well as the development of faculty exchange programs and joint research projects.
Other members of the Chinese delegation included Professor Zhao Limin, Vice Chairman of the Silk-road Biohealth Alliance and specialist in medicinal crops; Professor Zhao Liang, Standing Director with expertise in vegetable crops; Professor Sun Daoyang, Vice Secretary-General with a focus on oilseed and sunflower crops; and Professor Shi Suqi, Vice Secretary-General and expert in floriculture. All members hold senior academic and leadership positions at Northwest A&F University and are associated with the Silk-road Biohealth Agricultural Industry Alliance.
The Pakistani side was represented by leading experts and stakeholders, including Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Director of the Sino-Pak Biodiversity and Silkroad Biohealth Agro-biological Resource Centre at Quaid-i-Azam University, Muhammad Asif Noor, CEO of the Diplomatic Insight Group, and Muhammad Murtaza Noor, Advisor at COMSTECH.
