South korea flood : 37 death and 9 missing
South Korea is strongly effected due to huge rain and flood.
The death toll due to torrential rains in South Korea in the last one week has reached 37 and nine people are missing. The Central Disaster and Safety Response Headquarters reported that the bodies of 37 people who died due to rain-related disasters were found in Southeastern North Gyeongsang Province and Central Chungcheong Province.
A heavy rain warning has been issued for the provinces and some areas recorded more than 900 millimeters of rain last week. Nine people are still missing in northern Gyeongsang province, while southwestern Jeolla, Chungcheongnam-do and Gyeongsang provinces are expected to receive up to 250 millimeters of rain by Tuesday, the weather forecasting division said.
The number of deaths due to floods, house collapses and landslides is increasing across the country. In the central city of Osong, the bodies of nine people were found from vehicles stuck in an underground tunnel washed away by floods.
Eight thousand 852 people in 14 cities and provinces have been moved to safer places due to incessant rains. AFP
