Spokesperson of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Narayan Kaji Shrestha ‘Prakash’ has said that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) launched by the People’s Republic of China has challenged the imperialists.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Left Review Online on the occasion of the 69th founding day of the People’s Republic of China here in the capital on Monday, Spokesperson Shrestha said that Nepal would also help BRI to further expand it.

Shrestha, who is also the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, said that Nepal and China shared a long and cordial bilateral relationship, and hoped that the relations would further strengthen in the people to people level in the days to come.

“China has remained a good neighbour. It never encroached into Nepal’s territory and set a good example of the practice of the Marxist, Leninist and Maoist philosophy,” he said adding, “The geo-political situation of the country has also helped Nepal to protect its sovereignty.”

Sharing about his recent China visit, he said that the visit remained highly successful in building relations between the two governments and parties.

Peasant leader and Chairperson of the National Farmers’ Commission, a government body established to defend the peasants’ rights, Chitra Bahadur Shrestha said that Nepal had learnt from the Chinese models of revolutions. He shared his experience and learning from his China visit some years back and reminisced how the revolutionary spirit overwhelmed within himself while observing the great leader’s body at the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. He wished his good wishes for Left Review Online and praised for its collaboration with the Global Times, China.

Political analyst and writer Narendra Jung Peter said that the relations between the two countries have remained quite good despite the barrier of the Himalayas. He spoke on the role of the People’s Republic of China in the struggle against imperialism and neocolonialism.

Former Nepalese ambassador to Russia Hiranya Lal Shrestha said that the imperialists could have encroached Nepal and other territories of Asia if China had not emerged in such a way. He also mentioned that the BRI is in favour of the landlocked countries.

Famous revolutionary singer Jeevan Sharma expressed his solidarity with the Chinese People on the occasion of the National Day and performed a Nepali song that he had composed in Nepalese Language based on a famous Chinese poem by great Lu-Shun.

On the occasion, Editor and Director of Left Review Online, Nahendra Khadka had informed the audience about the agreement between Global Times, China and Left Review Online. Similarly, he also read a message sent by Global Times for the success of the programme.
